This gite is the only one in a former farm yard complex. The French owner lives in the farm house, which is behind and out of site of the front secluded sun terrace. To the side is a garden area, ideal for family barbecues and play.
The living area of the gite is on the at the elevated terrace level, with the bedrooms built into the roof space. Below the living area is a cellar/barn housing barbecue and wood for the wood burning fire, and with space for car storage if required. Access is either by stairs from within the gite or from the side garden which is at the lower level.
The gite consists of an attractive large modern
style lounge and dining area, with a corner kitchen (electric cooker, fridge,
microwave - but no kettle!), and a shower room (also containing the washing
machine) and separate toilet just off. Above on the first floor (if
you start from the normal entrance, on the terrace) will be found 2 bedrooms,
one a double and the other containing 2 twin
beds.
The commune applies a tax during July and August only of 0.3 euros per person per day, which is payable with the rental. As normal, a damage deposit will be required on arrival, refundable if all is left clean, tidy and without breakages or damages.
The gite is located on the outskirts of Saint-Pol
de Leon, an attractive small town of about 7000 population just South of
the ferry town of Roscoff on the Brittany coast. The nearest shop is
a large LeClerc supermarket, about 1.5 miles distant, and there are other
supermarkets and a lively town centre full of smaller shops at about 2.5
miles.
There is also an attractive harbour area. The nearest larger town is Morlaix, well known for its oft photographed viaduct, about 15 miles to the South East. The coastline all around is rocky, but with many sandy beaches, and has many reminders of Cornish scenery. There is an airport at Brest, accessible from Stanstead (note: a car is almost essential), and it is within driving range of St Malo or Cherbourg as alternative ferry routes.
